DEVELOPING AND VALIDATING COMMUNICATION AND CONTROL SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE IN GRIDS

Our team of researchers specialize in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and we have cutting-edge facilities in which to conduct electric system tests. Our main activities include developing monitoring systems and communication and control equipment that conform to the latest international standards. This enables us to cover a great many functions to be used in smart grids and smart cities. As a result, we can design systems that comprise various elements such as renewables, electric vehicle charging, energy storage, and central monitoring and management of energy flows..

We also conduct real-time simulation tests on the electric grid to analyse their behaviour in response to various electrical phenomena and validate smart electric equipment that does not alter the grid or other equipment.

TECHNOLOGICAL SERVICES

  • IEC 61850 Substations

We take care of everything from designing and functionally adapting a substation to setting up and validating the equipment under standard IEC 61850..

  • IEC 61850 Software Solutions Suite

We have developed a package of software solutions to work with the GOOSE protocol, making it easier to obtain, visualize, exchange and handle information regarding IEC 61859 grids and equipment.

TECHNOLOGICAL CAPACITIES

  • ICTs in the grid

We research and explore new information and communication technology solutions to improve communication in the control and automation of electrical systems, substations, electric vehicles, etc.

Energy box, control centre and integrated monitoring

We have designed an autonomous device that both measures and controls energy consumption in any facility, be it domestic or industrial, including managing electric vehicle charging.

Protecting resonant earth systems for Endesa

CIRCE has been entrusted by Endesa to validate a control and protection system applied to a resonant earth network using real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation, helping them to improve and adjust the equipment before going to market.

Specialization in standard IEC 61850 for the major electric firms

In the past few years, CIRCE has delivered specialized training on standard IEC 61850 for some of the most cutting-edge power companies such as Gas Natural Fenosa, Mesa or Endesa, which includes applying the standard to substations, electric vehicles, smart grids or renewables.
