GALP and CIRCE train more than 120 schoolchildren in Aragon

This educational program is part of GALP's commitment to sustainable territorial development in the areas where it operates and represents only the first phase of a collaboration with a vocation for continuity.

More than 120 students from three municipalities in Aragon have been immersed in clean energy thanks to an innovative collaboration between GALP and CIRCE - Technology Center, which seeks to sow scientific vocations in key rural areas for the energy transition.

With the shared vision that promoting the energy transition also involves inspiring new generations, the two entities have launched an educational initiative in the towns of Híjar, Chiprana and Escatrón, close to areas where Galp is committed to renewable energy with the presence of photovoltaic plants.

During the current school year, primary school and compulsory secondary education (ESO) students (aged between 10 and 16) from four schools have taken part in a series of workshops designed to raise awareness of renewable energies and show the job opportunities offered by the sector, which is increasingly present in the local economy.

"Renewable energies not only drive the energy transition, but also open up new opportunities for professional development in the region. At GALP we are committed to generating shared value, promoting employability and knowledge wherever we carry out our activities," says Carlos Relancio, Director of Renewable Energies at GALP.

Playfully learning about sustainable employment

The initiative, developed by CIRCE's training and outreach team, combined interactive talks, visual resources and participatory games adapted to the educational level of each group. In addition to the technical content, the workshops included professional guidance on the job opportunities offered by the energy sector, emphasizing the growing demand for qualified technical profiles, stressing that it is possible to develop professionally in the sector without leaving the rural environment.

"Bringing science and technology to the classroom is key to building a citizenry prepared to face the energy challenges. This type of action allows us to sow vocations in strategic sectors for the development of the territories," says Enrique Telmo, head of analysis and optimization of renewable generation at CIRCE - Technology Center.

This educational program is part of GALP's commitment to sustainable territorial development in the areas where it operates. A second phase is already underway to expand the initiative to new municipalities in Aragon and to continue sowing scientific vocations aligned with the energy transition.
