Description and objectives
The EU’s path towards climate neutrality by 2050 and the increasing level of energy interconnections require greater interoperability and resilience in power systems. One of the most promising solutions is the deployment of hybrid AC/DC grids at different voltage levels.
The objectives of THEUS are:
- To develop and validate planning and operation solutions for hybrid grids.
- To demonstrate how these tools can design, manage, and protect HV, MV, and LV hybrid grids.
- To validate the solutions in 5 use cases with real network data
Value proposition
- Addressing a structural challenge in European grids due to massive electrification and high penetration of renewables.
- Technological innovation validated under real conditions.
- Measurable and direct impacts: reducing energy losses and O&M costs, while increasing security and reliability of the power system.
- Strategic contribution to the energy transition
