Electric grids are a crucial element in an increasingly electrified society on the path towards decarbonization, where fossil fuels are making way for renewables. The sector is undergoing relentless transformations that depend on sound international R&D&I efforts, without which supply safety and reliability would be seriously compromised.

CIRCE is an acknowledged centre that specializes in researching electricity transportation, distribution and transformation. We are working to boost the sector’s growth so it can rise to current challenges such as integrating renewable energy in the grid and overcoming the potential effects of mass connection.

Meanwhile, we are also preparing to face the challenges that the next few decades will bring, such as the rise in distributed generation, energy storage, integration of electric vehicles, and the new role that consumers will be playing in this impending scenario.
